A plant that I bought as 'Piers Telford' from a garden centre in 2014. 'Piers Telford' is not usually variegated so my guess is that this came from a batch that had been micropropagated
and a variegated form had appeared and not been rogued out. A very similar plant was introduced by Beeches Nursery as 'Beeches Var' at about the same time
and I assume that both my plant and theirs share an origin. Plantagogo say: "Very attractive showy flowers with gold centre, with orange-brown outer, over green-cream variegated foliage. Lightly fragrant. A sport of 'Pier Telford' which has green foliage and the flowers are the same. Barnhaven Primulas say about 'Piers Telford': "Gold-centred alpine auricula. Attractive browny-orange shades. Bred by Derek Telford in 1991. Naturally produces large pips of good form." |
