A primula that I grew many years ago and had a nostalgic pang for when I saw it for sale at the Garden House in Devon. Barnhaven Primroses say: "An acaulis primrose with mauve-pink blooms and a green eye. An old variety, probably raised by Copijn of Groeneken, a Dutch nursery, It has dark green foliage of a typical juliana primrose." The "juliana" primroses are a race of small growing, tough, perennial hybrids raised from P. juliae crossed with coloured forms of P. vulgaris. |
