Primula marginata 'Pritchard's Variety'

A vigorous cultivar said the be the same thing as 'Kesselrings Variety', mine is certainly very similar.

Writing in 1951, K. C. Corsar says:

"Every alpine gardener knows P. marginata, described by Farrer as "the most beloved of all the European Primulas," but possibly not so many know the form which is listed under the name "Pritchards Variety". This variety is a distinct improvement on the species; the individual flowers are larger, their colour is stronger, and the scapes which bear them are stiffer and more erect. While the typical P. marginata is a trailing plant, frequently straggling to as much as two feet away from its main root, Pritchard's variety is reasonably compact in habit. For this reason, if for no other, it is eminently suitable for the smaller rock garden where it may be planted on the flat."
