Primula 'Netta Dennis'

17th March 2018 17th April 2019
A petiolarid Primula hybrid that I bought from Hartside Nursery (it will have hybrid vigour, won't it!). Their label says:

"(aureata x gracilipes) Creamy yellow flowers, spring, heavily silvered foliage. Shady position."

Writing about the Cleveland show in the Journal of the AGS, Alan Furness says:

"Raised by John Dennis as a deliberate cross between P. aurata (yellow) and P. gracilipes (pink), this fine hybrid was named after his wife. Looking very much like a robust P. aureata, it has retained its vigour over almost 20 years and shows no evidence of virus disease build-up, which is a recurrent problem with vegetatively-reproduced Asiatic primula hybrids."
