Pteris parkeri

A selection with broad green fronds that was being sold as a house plant (by Morrisons).
Plants of the World Online accepts P. parkeri as a species from Japan and treats P. cretica var. albolineata, P. cretica ssp. nipponica and P. nipponica as synonyms. It is a confusing group but the Japanese Pteris seem to be distinct from P. cretica and are now treated as P. parkeri.
The original description seems to be that printed in the Gardeners Chronicle of 9th March 1912 where it says:

" Pteris "Parkeri." - A seedling variety of Pteris with broad fronds and erect habit of growth, this plant will be valuable for market culture and decorative purposes generally. Shown by Mr J. J. Parker, Rose Nursery, Whetstone."

The plant had been exhibited at one of the Royal Horticultural Society's shows, on 5th March 1912, and was given an Award of Merit.
At the show on 30th April of the same year, Parkers exhibited the plant again and Gardeners Chronicle noted:

" Messrs Jas. PARKER & co, Whetstone, Middlesex, staged Pteris Parkeri, a strong growing form of P. major, with rich dark green fronds, which received an Award of Merit on March 5 last."
