A large fern from the Himalayas with the potential to be invasive. At present it is still sulking in a pot
but I have a plan to get it outside shortly. I bought it from Nick Macer at PanGlobal Plants in 2009. His label says: "A fabulous new giant fern from the Himalaya, proving hardy. Beautiful fan shaped horizontal lamina stems to about 1.5m though these will be smaller in inland drier sites. A running rootstock effectively makes this the Himalayan bracken though in this country it seems to be better behaved and, so far, neat. Best in an acid or neutral soil." I planted it in a large dustbin under a Magnolia and it has prospered. |
