Ranunculus extorris 'Flore Pleno'

An odd, fragile Japanese buttercup which dies back completely in August and needs to be kept just moist while dormant.
This double form has bright shiny yellow pom-pom flowers (the photo doesn't show the bright metallic lustre). Distributed by Joe Sharman though I got it from Desirable Plants. Their catalogue says:

"Rare, tricky Japanese treasure - low, narrow leaves with lots of little yellow double flowers in spring. Sun, moist, well drained. best in a pot. Beware slugs!"

Ranunculus extorris has now been synonymised with R. ternatus var. ternatus.
