Rebutia espinosae

Archive entry 07.06.15

Beautiful pink flowers that sprout from perfectly patterned plants.
Another Bolivian species with a great tolerance of low temperatures, possibly aided by the taxonomic fluff that surrounds it - this is probably better named R. narvaecensis. In this case nomenclatural stability is assisted by my natural laziness.

The Llifle Encyclopedia says:

"Origin and Habitat: Bolivia. Narvaez (Department of Tarija, O'Connor Province)
Altitude range: 1800 -3000
A small clustering cactus, branching at ground level to form low groups or mounds up to about 15 cm wide. It forms a showy bouquet of pale rose-pink flowers from the lower half of the almost globular, softly spined stems. The myriads of flowers sometimes completely hides the plant.
