Azaleas grow so well here that it is a pity not to grow more, but I am ambivalent about them. Very very pink, but not at all flippant. The combination of pink and serious
can become rather tiring. This is one of the taller Glenn Dale azaleas, bred in the USA for cold hardiness. I spent a long time being confused by this cultivar, thinking that it might be an unlikely Frank Abbott hybrid but iut was actually raised and named by B.Y. Morrison in the USA in 1947. The International Rhododendron Register description says: "Fls single, 1-4/truss, 65-75mm wide, with wavy-edged lobes, deep purplish pink, paler at base, with vivid purplish red spotting. Shrub to 1,5m tall. Early. Glenn Dale." |
