A Glen Dale Azalea raised by B.Y. Morrison at the United Stated Dept of Agriculture's Plant Introduction Station at
Glen Dale, Maryland, between 1920 and 1940. I planted it 30 years ago and was astonished it has survived. More significantly,
I was astonished that I could still read the label. Raised from seed from 'Hinodegiri' crossed with a large salmon coloured clone. The International Rhododendron Register says: " Fls 2-4/head, 50mm wide, brilliant orange-red, with a darker tone on upper lobe. Shrub to 1.5m. Early." |
