(R. 'Madame Albert van Hecke'). An evergreen azalea raised by Albert van Hecke in 1960, a seedling from R. 'Willy'. It has grown well and been very floriferous but it is now overshadowed by a large Acer palmatum
and will have to be moved (the combination seemed like a good idea at the time). Not the same plant as 'Madame Ad. van Hecke' which has small double orange flowers. The description of 'Madame Albert van Hecke' in the International Rhododendron Register says: "Evergreen azalea: 'Willy' x unknown. Raised:A. van Hecke (1960). Fls light pink. Kaempferi. |
