The variegated form of a common, weedy species. I have had it for a long time and it has moved
around the garden a few times but I think it has now settled on the top boundary, in the teeth of the gales. The International Rhododendron Register says: "Introduced: Lefevre (1837). Fls orchid pink. Lvs long, narrow, variegated with silvery margins and irregular tips. Shriub, 1.4m in 10 years. Midseason. (Modern description). (Sometimes seen as 'Ponticum Variegatum' and probably the same plant described as 'Silver Edge')." |
