An selection that came from Harry Hay. They don't flower very freely in cultivation, though it is hoped that this one will be an exception.

Writing about Harry Hay in the Plantsman, Julian Shaw says:

"Rhodophiala bifida 'Harry Hay', flowering in August, is a selection of intraspecific hybrids raised by Harry in which the colour and flower shape is constant compared to wild origin plants...
This is also where he grows Rhodophiala bifida 'Harry Hay', crossed and selected from wild-origin seed."
