Rhodohypoxis 'Susan Garnet-Botfield

A very good pink form given an Award of Merit by the RHS in 1983. Briam Mathew says:

"(Preliminary Commendation 1974, Award of Merit 1983). This was raised by Mrs R. McConnel from seed taken from 'Ruth'; it has pale almond-blossom pink flowers; a strong grower."

It was entered in the RHS Trial (1988-90) without attracting further attention.

The Award of Merit was given when the plant was exhibited by the Director, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. The description in the write-up says:

"Leaves all basal, up to 85 x 6.5mm. somewhat plicate, narrowly lanceolate, covered in long white hairs (but still appearing green). Scapes up to c. 80mm, 1-2fld, densely hairy. Perianth c. 30mm wide, segments 13-19 x 7-9mm, elliptic to obovate. Red-Purple Group 68B-C, darker at extreme base and with a white spot on the upper side at the tips of the outer segments. Externally the outer segments have a diffuse green band; on the inner segments this is more or less whitish."
