Very large flowers. This mulberry pink is as close to red as Rhodohypoxis come. In 2015 Tale Valley Nursery said: "Large red flowers. Although the name implies the plant is a tetraploid it is in fact a triploid as are R. 'Tetra White', R. 'Tetra Rose' and R. 'Tetra Pink'. It was entered into the RHS trial (1988-90) by Jacques Amand Nursery but did not receive an award. Cistus nursery in the USA say: "Prized, South African perennials for the well-drained rock garden or for containers, with small clumps of slightly hairy, grassy leaves that appear in late spring, quickly followed by simple, six-petalled flowers -- deep, hot pink and abundant in this cultivar -- on individual 3-4" stems." Far Reaches Farm say: "This little gem is the result of artificially induced tetraploidy which essentially means a doubling of the chromosome count. Why should we care about something we can't see? Because like athletes abusing steroids, this is extra vigorous with larger flowers as a result. Bright cerise crimson flowers. Yum." |
