I have just been given a small plant from the Alpine Garden Society expedition to China 1994. Seed collected on 24th January 1994
growing on the forest edge at 3170m in the Chung Jiang He Valley in China, on the road from Zhongian to Yangtze. I haven't found any further details relating to the collection of the Rodgersia, although the expedition itself is covered in detail in the Journal of the AGS and in the Journal of the Royal Horticultural Society. In the garden it has grown strongly but slowly been overshadowed by trees. It now needs to be moved to somewhere brighter and moister. |
