The newly opened flower was pretty, but pretty awful as it got older. Not one I will be keeping, I suspect. The RHS description says: "Very free-flowering rose, about 70cm tall and 60cm wide, with glossy mid-green foliage, and bearing generous clusters of fragrant, pale blush-pink, semi-double blooms, repeat-flowering from summer to autumn, when small orange fruits (hips) appear if the flowers are not deadheaded." The North Carolina Extension Gardener Toolbox says: "Many Happy Returns is a floribunda shrub rose cultivar in the Rosa family. It was introduced to the UK in 1991 by R. Harkness and Co. Parentage is Herbstfeuer × Pearl Drift." Ashridge trees add: "Bred by Harkness in 1986, code HARwanted, it won two international silver medals and a Gold Medal at the 1987 Geneva Rose Trials. The parents are Herbstfeuer and Pearl Drift." |
