I thought I liked it when I bought it. I'm not so sure now. That pink is just a bit too ... pink. When Julie Andrews starred in The Sound of Music she filled the role perfectly. As time has gone on public sentiment has changed, the emotional environment is a ittle more cynical and her (amazing) performance can be seen as overly sweet for the modern taste. So it is with pink. I loved it when I bought it, not so much later on. The Garden Rose Company say: "Lovely light pink blooms in an abundance of healthy foliage and subtle scent. This variety has bushy and compact growth making it a great patio rose with beautiful blooms. This variety benefits of repeat flowering and hardiness with good resistance to disease." Raised by Alain A. Meilland (Antibes, France) and introduced in 1996, it has an Award of Garden Merit from the RHS: "Recognized by the Royal Horticultural Society for its outstanding performance, this award-winning, repeat-flowering cultivar combines crisp, healthy foliage with continuous waves of mid-pink blooms, making it an excellent choice for gardeners seeking reliable, long-lasting colour in a compact form." |
