Rosa spinosissima 'William III'



An attractive double pink flowered cultivar that os very similar to a plant passed around in gardens locally.

Writing in 'The Plantsman', Peter Boyd says:

"This name is applied to several different deeppink to rich purple semi-double and double cultivars. I have no found the name used before the 20th century."

"William III of Orange, King of Britain was born at Binnenhof Place, The Hague, Netherlands, 14 November 1650. He was crowned 11 April 1689 in Westminster Abbey, London, England and died at Kensington Palace 8 March 1702. He is buried at Westminster Abbey, London.
