Rohdea japonica 'Herbie'

A vigorous selection with crisp white margins to the leaves. Similar to 'Miyako No Jo', but shorter and bushier. It has grown more strongly in the garden than some of the more heavily variegated forms. I got it from Plant Delights Nursery, their catalogue says:

"We obtained this fabulous rohdea from California, where it was grown in a private Japanese garden for many years. The 8" tall x 15" wide evergreen rosettes are composed of dark green outward stretching leaves, each edged with a narrow white band from the leaf tip to the base. Rohdea japonica 'Herbie' is also one of the fastest-multiplying rohdeas that we have grown. Just like other rohdea, the clumps are adorned with short stalks of bright red berries in the winter."
