Roscoea auriculata 'White Cap'

Archive entry 26.08.12
Archive entry 11.08.13

A large flowered form of the species with white staminodes that contrast well with the purple dorsal petal. I got it fromm Kevin Hughes but I think it was originally a Dutch selection.

De Hessenhof Perennials Nursery say:

"Characteristic of this species is the broad, somewhat wavy lower lip, powerful purple in colour. But in this form, the cap that protects the stamens is coloured white. Above that is the purple upper lip. All in all, a lively contrast in a well-growing plant."
