Roscoea cautleyoides 'China White'

Roscoea cautleyoides 'China White' is a form distributed by Paul Christian at RarePlants. He obtained stock from China, described as 'White' but as you can see, some confusion has occurred. This plant appears to be close to R.tibetica, though it is much taller than any of the other forms that I grow. I have spent some time wrestling with a key to try and find a name for this plant but it hasn't really been a good year for me and keys. The hope that they will lead to greater clarity has yet to be fulfilled.

Paul Christian says:

"This is a new stock which has come to us from China as white cautleyoides. We will be growing the stock for future propagation but until then we are offering a few plants for the first time with some caveats.
We guarantee only that it is a Roscoea. The tubers look like the slender, elongated tubers of cautleyoides, which is hopeful. However we cannot make any promises with regard to the colour! We would hope that it is white and the photograph that we were sent shows, as you can see, a white flowered plant.
In the worst case this will just be new material of an existing colour form, so we have priced it down accordingly. Should this be the case it will still be new, and different to the 80+ year old horticultural stocks. That is not so bad I hope, and of course we are hoping that it will be something quite different!
Nice near flowering sized tubers but please do not buy these if you are not prepared to take a chance on colour as we do not guarantee this in any way."
