Roscoea cautleyoides 'Mauve Form' flowers in june, a little later than the earliest yellow forms. It has fairly small lilac mauve flowers, and usually has several open at once, which adds greatly to the display.
It does very well in a pot in the greenhouse and grows very easily from seed but it seems less strong than the yellow form when planted in the garden.

Jill Cowley grouped plants in the mauve colour range as Roscoea cautleyoides f. sinopurpurea and says:

"... I was interested to see populations of yellow-flowered plants including occasional purple, dusky pink or white flowered individuals; populations of purple-flowered plants likewise included occasional individuals of the other colour forms."
