Roscoea cautleyoides 'Purple Giant'

Roscoea cautleyoides 'Purple Giant' has large light purple flowers. The lateral petals stand out horizontally from the flower. It is a slightly paler flower than 'Purple King' and has white hooded staminodes beneath the dorsal (top) petal. In 'Purple King' they are mauve. I got it from Long Acre Plants, their catalogue entry says:

"May flowering. Really the purple equivalent of 'Kew Beauty', ie a big flowered cautleyoides but purple."

Jill Cowley says:

"Flowers large, deep purple (N79B - purple group), c. 30cm tall."
