Roscoea cautleyoides 'Vanilla'

A pale yellow form - I have seen the name in circulation for a few years now, mostly in lists from the USA, so I was pleased to be able to get hold of this one, although if I am honest it is nothing special.
I bought this at Kevin Hughes' nursery, and then stopped off in the New Forest to take some pictures because I didn't think the flowers would last the journey home - I was right!

Paul Christian wrote in his Rare Plants catalogue (2005):

"If you think of the shrivelled, black, but delicious, pods of its namesake you might be put off this one, but think instead of the softly cream colour of Vamilla ice cream and you will be spot on. A lovely colour break released here for the first time."
