Roscoea cautleyoides 'Yeti'

Archive entry 13.05.07

Roscoea cautleyoides 'Yeti' is another Dutch selection. Roscoeas are currently in the middle of a boom in popularity. Well, make that a boom in popularity. As a consequence, a great many new names are appearing, and many of them will fall by the wayside. Hopefully this will not be one of them. It has attractive primrose flowers that do not fade through the season.

I got it from Paul Christian's Rare Plants nursery. His catalogue description says:

"This name probably conjures up the right thoughts in terms of size and stature.
Yeti is a particularly large and strong form which has notably large yellow flowers, carried on tall, strong stems.
You can almost see the anthropoid shape if you try hard."

(Catalogue descriptions are very hard to write, you can become quite desperate after a bit).

Jill Cowley says:

"21cm tall; flowers a deepish yellow (1A - green/yellow group); holds its flowers well and does not fade."
