A selection made by Hugh Nunn with large pale yellow flowers. Writing in the Journal of the Royal Horticultural Society about Twelve Nunns nursery, Roy Lancaster says: "Over the years crosses between R. cautleyoides and R. humeana produced outstanding pale creamy yellow-flowered Roscoea 'Harvington Raw Silk'; purple R. 'Harvington Royale', which flowers from May into mid-July; and R. 'Harvington Evening Star' of a darker colour with a dstinct white eye, flowering a fortnight later." The description on the Twelve Nunns website says: "Introduce a touch of exotic beauty to your garden by planting Roscoea ‘Harvington Raw Silk’. As a member of the ginger family, this plant features upright stems adorned with strap-shaped leaves and stunning, orchid-like flowers. A robust, clump-forming, and vigorous plant, they can thrive anywhere in the British Isles when positioned in dappled shade with moist, free-draining soil. It is well-suited for woodland gardens, shaded borders, or as part of a rock garden where its unique and exotic blooms can be appreciated up close. It will also happily grow in a large container in a shaded corner of a patio. In addition to ‘Harvington Raw Silk’, our collection includes several Roscoea varieties with the ‘Harvington’ prefix. These are a set of distinctive, garden-worthy plants bred by Hugh Nunn." The description on Hugh Nunn's wholesale website says: "An early flowering hybrid with an RHS Award of Garden Merit. Beautiful pink bracts surround the buds which open into large cream flowers. Clump forming with lots of vigour and lots of flowers." |
