Roscoea purpurea 'Dalai Lama'

A rather beautiful lilac- purple form recently introduced with dark stems and foliage.

Richard Wilford writes in 'The Plantsman':

"This is a sturdy and attractive cultivart, 40 - 50cm tall, with a striking combination of pale flowers and deep red leaf sheaths. The labellum is pale violet (lighter than N82D) but bdeeper purple violet (N81A-B) with white streaks in the throat. The dorsal and lateral petals are white flushed violet (N82) and the staminodes are white. The floral bracts are red (187A-B) with green tips while the leavesare mid green with sheaths that are deep red (187A-B) and vertically ridged."
