Roscoea purpurea 'Tall Form'

Archive entry 07.09.2014

A very tall growing form which reached 24" tall in a pot, and would no doubt grow taller in the open ground. As a consequence it is one of the later forms of R.purpurea to flower. I got it from Long Acre Plants. Their catalogue says:

"A fine form of this easy but unusual woodland perennial. Large purple flowers in summer. Most tend to have red stems.
The tall form is robust and very large flowered with light purple flowers slightly streaked with white. Late flowering, August through to mid September."
