The double flowered elderberry has shining white heads of flowers because the yellowish stamens have been
replaced with petals. It gives a crisp cleanliness to the whole shrub. I like it but the single flowered
form is also good and gives you elderberries as well. I got it from Cotswold Garden Flowers, their label says:
"Double elderberry. Utterly white flowers because the yellow stamens have become petals May-Jun, 2-3m. The flowers ARE double but this is only apparent on close inspection!
There is a stigma in the middle of the flowers - which berry."
