A delicate coloured but vigorous form of the Great Burnet, produces masses of flower heads from midsummer.
I think it is unfortunate that it hangs on to the old flower stems until the following season
but dead grass is currently fashionable again so dead flower stems are bound to find favour as well
in some circles. I have been impressed by Sanguisorba as plants for the herbaceous border here, they seem to be vigorous and to come well with damp soils. 'Pink Tanna' is a test plant to see if they live up to the promise. It was raised by Coen Jansen in Holland. |
