I got this as a form of 'Hahnii Dark' with broad creamy margins to the leaves. I am fairly certain that it is 'Jade Dwarf Variegated', but I have seen something very similar
being sold as 'Compact Yellow Margin' in the USA. The yellow margins on this plant are a little broader than I would expect so this might be a more modern selection. Juan Chahinian says about 'Jade Dwarf Marginated': "A cultivar originated at 'Singer's Growing Things' , Northridge, California, this unusual looking plant has very dark green leaves with a waxy texture, as 'Nelsoni', no doubt enhanced by cultural conditions. The leaves show no markings whatsoever of any kind on the front of the leaves and only inconspicuous transverse banding on the back, which soon either disappear or become mere vestiges. It has intense yellow margins which sometimes feather longitudinally towards the center of the leaf, and surprisingly so, occasional white dots which are remnants of would be transverse markings, which, as stated above, do not project into the green centers. This dwarf sported from 'Hahnii Marginated', having kept its same size and growth form. As easy to grow as its originator, this plant offsets freely and its attraction relies on the singular lack of transverse banding. Leaf cuttings produce yet another dwarf plant of interest to the collector: S. t. 'Jade Dwarf'.2 |
