I have a few dwarf forms of S.trifasciata and I am still searching for appropriate cultivar names for them all. This one came as "cream" which will do to identify it until I find a better name, I have also seen it called 'Silver Marginata'. A different form of 'Hahnii' with lime-green leaves having a deep green margin has also been distributed from Indonesia as 'Cream. This appears to be the same clone that Chahinian (The Sansevieria trifasciata varieties) refers to as 'Silver Hahnii Marginated'. He says: "This fairly attractive cultivar differs from 'Silver Hahnii' only by its creamy, not yellow, color of the leaf margins, of varying width, but mostly quite narrow, averaging to 1 or 2 mm. (1/16 in.). The edge variegation, as happens with other cultivars, occasionally feathers out towards the center of the leaf. As with 'Silver Hahnii', it will adopt a satin gloss if grown in the proper environment of light and humidity. As with the former, leaves darken with age, the crossbanding becoming less conspicuous. A very easy to grow plant, this is a very stable variety and always offsets true. Leaf cuttings, as expected, consistently revert to 'Silver Hahnii'. Another cultivar, growing larger than this one described, is known as Sansevieria Trifasciata 'Hahnii Pearl Young'. At best, a clone of the former, its only distinguishing quality is its larger size, otherwise bearing all the physical characteristics of the former." |
