Sarracenia x mitchelliana
Sarracenia (leucophylla * purpurea)
One of the classic horticutural hybrids. Under natural circumstances the two parents meet in the south western corner of Georgia, the Florida panhandle, and southern Alabama.
A medium sized hybrid with broad pitchers that start the season upright but usually start to lean over before very long. The deep red colour of S.purpurea
and the white areoles of S.leucophylla have the potentail to produce some really striking effects, but the red and the white tend to blend together
into uncompromising pinkness.
In cultivation the hybrid is being produced using all of the variations in the two species, including some interesting anthocyanin free forms.
