Sarracenia x wrigleyana
Sarracenia (leucophylla x psittacina)
Sarracenia x wrigleyana is a strange little hybrid that occurs where the parents meet in the Florida panhandle and coastal Alabama.
The bizarre hood and prostrate habit of S.psittacina have a strong influence on the appearance of the hybrid, which is generally small with stiffly held semi-recumbent pitchers
. The lids are genarally closed or distorted.
Sarracenia x wrigleyana is something of a runt, but it is loaded with charisma. Pitchers often inherit the deep colour of S.psittacina with white topped highlights.
The deep colour is useful for breeders, as it is often passed to subsequent hybrid generations to give compact, brightly coloured plants with more conventional pitcher structures.
