Sarracenia x courtii
Sarracenia (psittacina x purpurea)
I rather like Sarracenia x courtii. The rather rounded, floppy hooded rosettes remind me of fat little puppies rolling around on the floor.
Blood red puppies, it is true, but I didn't say it was a rational comparison.
The parents meet along the Gulf coast of northern Florida, Alabama and Mississippi. The hybrid is probably more often trodden on than noticed.
In cultivation it makes a pretty, compact and attractive hybrid with a robust constitution (unlike S.psittacina, which can sometimes be a little temperamental).
