A well established and relable cultivar, I am sure that its origin and history must be well recorded somewhere but I haven't managed to find it.
I got it from Simon Bond at Thuya Apines. Erwin Geiger is quoted on Sempervivum List saying: "One of the most beautiful cultivated forms of the species with high-contrast rosettes up to 6 cm in size. The name is often misspelled or sometimes even with the natural hybrid S. x Giuseppii." Mountain Crest Gardens say: "Sempervivum calcareum 'Mrs. Giuseppi' (Giuseppi): A green rosette with contrasting, dark red tips. It is a strong grower and survives cold, wet winters better than most Sempervivum. This variety produces lots of offsets on very short stolons." |
