A cultivar with broad leaves and large open rosettes that show the rich colours well during summer. Raised by Volkmar Schara in Germany
and released in 1998. Volkmar Schara's description is quoted on Sempervivum List: "Forms strikingly flat rosettes, with wide leaves that enhance the effect. The whole plant has a shiny surface! The red rosette centre is surrounded by broad, glossy green leaves. Light pink flower with green stigma and striking red stamens." Erwin Geiger adds: "Velvet beauty from Herrieden, for a long time incorrectly circulated as 'Donna Karen'" Sempervivum Garden says: "Sempervivum Donna Karan forms strikingly flat roofwort rosettes, with broad leaves that enhance the effect even more. The whole houseleek has a shiny surface! The red rosette centre is surrounded by broad, glossy green leaves. Sempervivum Donna Karan has a light pink flower with a green stigma and striking red stamens." |
