It's cute, but not as cute as Gizmo. Things have a time and place, and a sempervivum named after a character in 'Gremlins' properly has its origin in 1980.
Raised by Ed Skrocki in the USA. Horst Diehm said: "long pointed leaves, dark brown-red" Cistus Nursery say: "Leaves are green with purplish tips and held upright in a distinctive rosette on this somewhat slow-growing succulent that offsets and creates mats for the rock wall, outdoor container, hell strip, or random little nooks and/or crannies. Best in sun to half shade where there is sharp drainage. Tolerates drought; grows more quickly with summer water. Plenty hardy in USDA zone 4." Mountain Crest Gardens say: "Sempervivum 'Gizmo' (Skrocki): A large, colorful cultivar. 'Gizmo' has long, slender leaves and can reach over 5.0" in diameter. It tends to show pink, burgundy, and purple tones, with its coloration changing with the seasons. Its coating of natural wax can give it wavy striations or "watermarks"." |
