I first saw 'Gold Nugget'for sale in the summer of 2024 and nearly bought it on sight but something stopped me (something quite close to the price, which was substantial).
In spring 2025 it turned up again, being sold very reasonably as a bijou gem in a tiny clay pot. The sort of thing you would cherish for a week on a bedside table
before throwing it out. I think that a lot were sold on that basis. They had been grown in plugs and pushed into the pots for sale. World of Succulents say: "Sempervivum 'Gold Rush' is a part of the Chick Charms® series from the breeding program of Chris Hansen. It was introduced in 2021 and is a Plant Patent Applied For. Sempervivum 'Gold Rush' is an eye-catching succulent that forms mounds of rosettes of fleshy, brilliantly colored leaves of ruby-red and gold. It is similar to Sempervivum 'Gold Nugget' but has 35% larger rosettes, and much thinner leaves held stiffly upright. The color of the leaves changes dramatically throughout the year." My plant was strongly coloured on arrival but has turned green in a larger pot outside. I am interested to see what winter brings. |
