Sempervivum 'Isabelle'

An excellent example of a classic Sempervivum colour. The rosettes were greyish during the winter in the greenhouse but developed red and brown colours as soon as they went outside in the spring. Raised by Gustaaf van den Steen in Belgium and introduced in 1976.

Volkmar Schara is quoted on Sempervivum List:

"Here we have a smaller cross that shows some Sempervivum arachnoideum blood! The coloration is very strong, especially in spring!"

Les Jardins de Gue say:

"Sempervivum 'Isabelle' is a houseleek that forms medium-sized, hairy rosettes with red leaves on the periphery. It is the result of a selection by Gustave van den Steen in Belgium in 1976. Like all houseleeks, Sempervivum 'Isabelle' is quite hardy."
