Sempervivum 'Lipari'

A good red foliage cultivar that didn't change much through the season and didn't turn green under glass. I thought that it was rather special and although I got it from a local garden centre, it hasn't really caught on with growers. Raised by Martin Harberer in Germany and introduced in 1977.

Horst Diehm says:

"Large, upright rosettes, 8 - 10 cm, beautiful red, the outer tips are green, ciliate, darker in winter, gold medal in Kassel 1981"

Craigiehall Nursery say:

"A wonderful plant with strong colours in every season but especially through summer when the red leaves take a narrow bright green edge. A Gold Medal winner from this renowned breeder."
