Sempervivum 'Ohio Burgundy'

A dense foliaged cultivar that I obtained in a swap with na grower in the Czech Republic. Raised by Ed Skrocki in the USA and introduced in 1972, it received an Award of Merit in 1974.

Horst Deihm said:

"10 cm large, compact rosettes in eye-catching red tones, the velvety substance is striking, flower pink, 20 cm".

Erwin Geiger says on Sempervivum List:

"A popular hybrid from the USA that has also been well received in the UK. She received the Award of Garden Merit from the RHS in 1974 and was also awarded the "Bronze Rosette" (bronze medal) by the British Sempervivum Society a year later. It forms beefy, plush rosettes in wine-red tones, also one of our first favorites in the realm of outdoor succulents."

Mountain Crest Gardens say:

"Sempervivum 'Ohio Burgundy' (Skrocki): A velvety red to deep burgundy rosette. It earned a Bronze Rosette Award from the Sempervivum Society in 1976. Likely, it's a hybrid offspring of S. 'Cleveland Morgan'."
