A lax growing cultivar spun with white hairs. Raised by Nicholas Moore in the UK in 1954 froma cross between S. arachnoideum and S. marmoreum. In 1982 Alpine Gardens in Dallas said in their catalogue: "Red in spring with fringes, tufts and a web of tangled hair in the centre." Horst Diehm said: "5 - 6 cm, a little brown on the outside, strong hairs, flower light pink, 15 cm" Erwin Geiger is quoted on Sempervivum List: "This hybrid of S. arachnoideum x S. marmoreum was created in the mid-70s and received a silver medal in 1976. The strongly hairy rosettes look as if they are covered with cotton wool." Mountain Crest Gardens say: "A super fuzzy cultivar with long cilia coating its green to red leaves. It produces lots of offsets on long stolons, almost like spiders in a web. This variety is a hybrid of S. arachnoideum x S. marmoreum and earned the Bronze Rosette Award from the Sempervivum Society in 1976." |
