Sempervivum 'Tarantula'

A large and cobwebby cultivar, as befits the name. It made a good looking patch when grown outside. Raised by Sue Rowe in the UK and introduced in 2000.

Erwin Geiger is quoted of Sempervivum List:

"The variety 'Tarantula' is certainly one of the most beautiful breeds of Sue Thomas from Great Britain. The velvety leaves of the medium-sized rosettes are covered with numerous longer white hairs at the edges and especially on the attached leaf tips. Therefore, we think the name is very well chosen. The different colouring of the individual leaves during the summer months is particularly striking. A must-have for any collection!"

World of Succulents says:

"Sempervivum 'Tarantula' is a beautiful succulent that forms rosettes of colorful leaves covered with short white hairs. The leaves have a striking color mixture of light green, red, and burgundy during the summer months."
