I have a number of Sphagnum species growing among the carnivorous plants and when something seems to be distinct I try to pick them out.
These two plants both keyed out as S. recurvum, selected as a yellow form and a bronze form. It has been very easy to cultivate and has kept its good looks
in bright sunshine. Its origin in the collection is uncertain, I have had plants from around the world, sometimes packed in Sphagnum,
and I always try to grow it. The identification is therefore tentative, the taxonomy of the group is a matter for specialists (I am not one).
The Flora of North America says:
"This species is found exclusively in the New World."
