An awful weedy weed, but wonderful in the spring. This one turned up as a seedling, with odd blotches of yellow all over it like some curious illness.
I have moved it into a large pot in the garden
and unfortunately the rabbits jump up and eat the leaves (rabbits love dandelions). Something will
have to be done but I'm not sure what.
This one turned up by chance in a local car park and at first I thought that it was stressed by growing in an unsuitable medium - you will not find 'car park'
recommended as a compost in any reputable manual. My second thought was that it had been attacked by an urban gang of hungry flea beetles, or perhaps a late-night drunk
has pissed on it. Not so, I think it was genuinely mottled and variegated. It didn't come true from seed but I kept it for about a decade. I think that one afternoon a well-intentioned
soul whispered the truth to it, that it was an ugly weed in a thicket.
It swooned and was gone.
