A plant I was sent by Chen Yi in China under the number T.18, collected at 2000m. One of the more spectacular species of Thalictrum, with large flowers. From Nepal and Bhutan, and possibly China. This is the first time
my young plant has flowered, and it has been attractive but not the startling beauty I was hoping for. Writing in The Plantsman, Dan Hinkley says: "In Nepal, above the Arun River in the northeast, we identified a similar species as T. reniforme with greyish and aromatic leaves consisting of somewhat distinctive kidney-shaped leaflets, held om 1,8m stems, capped by large purple-pink flowers carried in a pendulous habit. I remain somewhat dubious about out identification of this species which reportedly shares its habitat with that of T. chelidonii." Plants of the World online says: "The native range of this species is Himalaya to S. Tibet and Assam. It is a perennial and grows primarily in the subalpine or subarctic biome." |
