A hybrid between Thunia majoriana and Thunia winniniana. It is a genus of deciduous orchids that produce strong canes in the spring and spend the winter
as dormant canes. I had hoped that the dormant canes would tolerate low temperatures but the results were not good after the first winter.
If I try again I will wrap the canes in paper and bring them into the house for a couple of months through winter.
Orchids.com say:
"Thunia Gattonensis is an orchid hybrid originated by Colman in 1917. It is a cross of Thu. majorensis x Thu. winniana."
