Tigridia chiapensis

I was given a seedling and it flowered and produced seed. For a couple of years it popped up from time to time in other pots. I think it has gone now but if it reappeared I would be delighted but not surprised.

Plants of the World online says:

"The native range of this species is Mexico (Chiapas). It is a bulbous geophyte and grows primarily in the subtropical biome."

The Pacific Bulb Societty says:

" is native to wet meadows in Mexico and is dormant in winter and flowers in summer"

Sunshine Seeds say:

"tuberous, small, deciduous plant up to 30 cm with fan-like, sword-shaped, deep green leaves with conspicuous veins. The erect, sometimes branched flower stems consist of tulip- or iris-like, white flowers with 3 large outer and 3 small inner petals and a conspicuous yellow centre with purple markings"
